Our Recent Projects

At ECCO, we’re proud to support local schools, community organisations & local charities with projects that make a real difference. From outdoor learning to healthy eating and essential community services, here are some of the initiatives we’ve recently funded:

🌳 Forest School Project

School: Milwards Primary School
We supported the creation of a Forest School, giving children a safe and inspiring outdoor space to explore, play, and learn in nature. Forest Schools encourage creativity, problem-solving, and resilience, while helping pupils develop a deep connection with the natural world.

Impact:

  • Resources, equipment, and guidance provided to ensure long-term sustainability
  • Encourages confidence, teamwork, and environmental awareness

🥕 Allotment Project

School: St Lukes Primary School
This project enabled pupils to grow, harvest, and enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables while learning gardening, nutrition, and teamwork. It helps children develop healthy eating habits and a sense of responsibility.

Impact:

  • Raised beds, soil, seeds, and tools provided
  • Benefits pupils, staff, and the wider community

” Because of the money you gave us, we’ve been able to do so many brilliant things. We’ve planted flowers, vegetables, and herbs, and we’ve learnt how to look after them properly — like watering, weeding, and being really patient while things grow!” St Lukes Teacher Quote

🍎 Foodbank Support

Donation: £4,000 to Harlow foodbank
Our donation supports the foodbank in providing essential food supplies and guidance to individuals and families facing challenging times.

Impact:

  • Helps reduce food insecurity in the community
  • Provides nutritious food and essential resources to those in need

Customers at ECCO have bought DVDs and CDs at a donation price with all funds going to the Foodbank. This has been match funded by ECCO to double it to £4,000!! A huge thanks to all customers and the staff there” – Foodbank Manager Quote

🚴 Bike Project

Donation: £2,000 to Roots To Wellbeing
This project provides families with access to bikes for everyday travel, helping children and parents commute to school, work, and other destinations while encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.

Impact:

  • Reduces transportation barriers for families
  • Promotes sustainability and fitness

We are truly appreciative of Ecco Environmental Fund supporting our ongoing work with free cycle recycling scheme with a grant of £2,000 this will help us train team, to include ‘learn to and cycle confidence’ as well as maintenance, new accessories, parts, storage and plenty cups of tea”

School: St Michaels Primary School
Funds were granted to grow a polytunnel, allowing students to cultivate plants and vegetables year-round. This hands-on project teaches horticulture, sustainability, and healthy eating.

Impact:

  • Provides an engaging, educational experience for students
  • Helps children understand where food comes from and develop life skills

“It was inspiring to see how the project has brought the whole community together — from parents braving the elements to build it, to the generosity of ECCO Charity and local residents whose donations helped make it possible.” – Josh Dean MP for Bishops Stortford

🍲 Healthy Meals Project

Support: Funding for Butterfly Effect to provide weekly hot meals for people struggling with mental health
This initiative provides hot, nutritious meals once a week for individuals dealing with mental health challenges. It offers not only nourishment but also a sense of community, support, and wellbeing for those who may feel isolated.

Impact:

  • Promotes healthier eating habits and wellbeing
  • Provides social interaction and emotional support for vulnerable individuals
