ECCO (environmental conservation co-operative) was set up in 1995 in Harlow, Essex. (charity no.1130574). We currently have three reuse shops which rely completely on donations from the public by reusing unwanted goods.
- To alleviate poverty through the provision of low cost, good quality furniture, clothing, electrical and household goods.
- To protect the environment through practical environmental projects and education.
- To create sustainable employment through waste.
In 2012 we took over the running of Parndon Wood Nature Reserve from Harlow Council. Since then we have extended opening hours, opened a visitors café and run lots of events throughout the year.
We have 2 aims for Parndon Wood. The first is to have fun in the outdoors and the second is environmental education. In 2016 we had around 17,000 visitors. This reserve is funded from the income of the ECCO reuse shops, the café and Parndon Wood events.
